- 1-2 years experience overseeing newsroom staff or working in a leadership role (digital experience preferred)
- Degree in journalism, communications or related field (preferred)
- Excellent news judgment and knowledge of current events/pop-culture
- Attention to detail with content, including grammar, punctuation and fact-checking, and layout of articles
- Proficiency in writing and copyediting news articles
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced, breaking news situations; work effectively under pressure, multitask, prioritize, organize, and meet short deadlines
- Be part of a team to develop new and innovative content for the web and on-air
- Ability to delegate, be a self-starter, and team player
- Understanding of social media and its relationship with news consumers
- Proficiency in Photoshop, HTML and audio editing
- Maintain current equipment, as well as advise on needed equipment
- Flexibility in work schedule. Ability to work established schedule and other hours, as needed.
- Work in compliance with company policies and procedures
- Maintain a positive and cooperative rapport with staff, management and clients
- Project appropriate company image with respect to dress and demeanor
- High level of initiative required and the ability to work independently
- Advise station managers about new product offerings, trends and innovative newsroom ideas
- Knowledge of the local radio industry and familiarity with all radio terminology and methodology (preferred)

Position Summary: The Digital Editor oversees the minute-to-minute news operations and content on WTOP.com to make the website the leading provider of local, timely and relevant news for the Washington D.C. metro region.
Essential Job Functions:
- Coordinate with news managers, reporters, radio editors and web staff to ensure relevant news is written and published to WTOP.com
- Ensure WTOP.com homepage reflects the top news of the day and is updated in a timely manner
- Oversee the handling of breaking news on WTOP.com and sending alerts
- Provide effective leadership to the department
